Q16 My Lodge is interested in giving tokens to visitors. Is there an easy way for our Lodge to track these tokens?
Q1 How is the token used? The token is a Masonic coin designed to be given from one Mason to another.
Q2 What's the purpose of the bulletin board?
The bulletin board is used to document the travels of the particular tokens. Each person, giving or receiving the token, can enter their own information. Come back now and then to get an update on the travels of your token. There's no telling how far, or thru how many hands, your token will travel.
Q3 Is there a cost, charge or fee for using the bulletin board?
No. The bulletin board is free to use. The only requirement is that you register to use it (this helps keep the spam programs from flooding the board). Obviously, this board is pretty much Masonic in nature. If you AREN'T a Mason, this site will probably be of very, very little interest to you. If you aren't a Mason but feel you have to make some anti-Mason comments, we'd appreciate it if you'd find a more appropriate forum.
Q4 I have a token. Who should I give it to?
These tokens are intended to pass from Brother to Brother. When you give the token, tell him to take a moment to visit this website and update the token's travel in the bulletin board.
Q5 I was given a token. How long should I wait to pass it on?
There's no set time on when to pass it along. Obviously, the more hands the token passes thru, the more of a story it will have to tell. A good rule of thumb is to pass it along within a month.
Q6 How much does a token cost? Is there a discount for multiple tokens?
The token is $9.99 plus S/H. A set of three tokens is just $20 plus S/H.
Q7 How do I buy a token?
Just click on the "ORDER A TOKEN" menu bar, and follow the instructions.
Q8 Any special requirements for me to purchase a token?
The only requirement to purchase a token is that you are a Mason (or a non-Mason purchasing this token as a gift for a Mason). EA, FC, and MM are all welcome.
Q9 What serial number should I use for my token?
You can either select a number, or have the next available number. If you decide to select your own number (subject to availability), use a number that has some significance to you. For example, use your lodge number. Check the used numbers (go to the bulletin board) or just e-mail and ask if the number is available.
Q10 Can I suggest or recommend another discussion forum for the bulletin board?
Certainly...as long as the suggested forum would be of interest to the Masonic community. Just e-mail your suggestion.
Q11 What happens to the money from this website?
The profit from this website will be used for the Shriner's Hospitals, and other Masonic activities.
Q12 Are you (the website guy) a Mason?
Yes. I entered the craft in February 1974 and was raised six months later (August 1974). I'm an endowed (life) member of Sugarland #1141, Houston Scottish Rite and Arabia Shrine.
Q13 Why are you doing this website?
For a number of reasons. Curiosity (how far will these tokens travel?). Fun and entertainment. Meet (via the internet) other Masons. And, the possible opportunity to raise some money to help Masonic activities.
Q14 What are the physical dimensions of the token?
The token, a heavy weight coin, is 1.75" in diameter and 2.9mm thick. By comparison, a U.S. silver dollar is 1.50" in diameter and only 2.58mm thick. The raised areas of the token are polished metal and recessed areas are textured.
